What will happen if the train driver will sleep: Indian Railways is the fourth largest railway network of the world. Millions of passengers travel daily. During this time, the train driver also has a big responsibility. It is often heard that due to the fault of the driver, many accidents take place.
In such a situation, have you ever thought what would happen if the loco pilot of the train blinks for a while? What will happen to the lives of lakhs of people if the health of the driver of the train deteriorates in the middle of the journey? Let us tell you what measures have been taken by the Railways for the safety of passengers?
There are two drivers on the train
There are always 2 drivers in the train, one is the loco pilot and the other is the assistant loco pilot. So, if the chief loco pilot falls asleep, the assistant loco pilot takes charge of the train. If the health of the chief loco pilot also deteriorates, the assistant loco pilot takes over the command of the train. After reaching the next station, another arrangement is made.
If both loco pilots fall asleep
But what if both the loco pilots fall asleep while driving the train? Have you ever thought about this? In fact, such a situation is rare and the railways is fully prepared in such a situation. The Railways has made a special arrangement in the train in which if both the drivers fall asleep, the train will stop automatically and inform the control room about it.
How this system works
Let us tell you that while running the train, the loco pilot has to increase the speed of the train every little while and honk repeatedly. If there is no such movement in the train for 1 minute, a device installed in the train is activated.
This is called a control device. It gives the driver a kind of visual audio alarm, on which if the driver does not respond in 17 seconds, the train automatically starts braking. This means that if both loco pilots in the train are sleeping, then the train is saved from getting into an accident.
