MGNREGA: In order to enhance livelihood security and increase employment in the rural sector in the country, the BAFTA government had introduced the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Act a few years ago. Those working under the NREGA scheme carry out works such as digging wells, constructing dams, irrigation, road construction, etc. in rural areas. In return, they are paid a salary.
With this, the wages that were paid to the labourers working in MNREGA will now be paid under the Aadhaar-based-payment system. The Congress party attacked it, saying that on the occasion of New Year, the central government has taken a very bad decision for the workers.
Apart from this, the Ministry of Rural Development has also informed that if some gram panchayats face technical problems in the future, then in such a situation, the government can consider giving them exemption.
While the Congress party attacked the government’s decision, saying that the government does not want to give the benefit of social welfare schemes to the poor and weaker sections and that is why this step has been taken.
MGNREGA is considered to be the world’s largest employment guarantee programme. Under this scheme, the government is trying to reduce poverty and unemployment in rural areas of the country.
Apart from this, the government is also working to develop rural infrastructure under the MNREGA programme. Under this programme, women living in rural areas are also being empowered. Along with this, the government is also running various economic schemes for the poor people of the country and they are also being given free ration under these social welfare schemes. The government is also providing them employment.
