Agniveer Bharti: A suggestion has been received from the Ministry of Defence to re-use the Agniveers after their service period is over. That’s currently under consideration. It will be implemented before 2026. Because the tenure of the first batch of Agniveers is also going to end during this time.
Under the existing rule, after the end of 4 years of service, a maximum of 25% of Agniveers will be hired for employment in the service, after which 75% of Agniveers will be out of service. Which will be about 25 years old. However, they will be given many opportunities for employment in the state services, including the police and paramilitary forces. But even for elections, their emergency significance will always remain.
In fact, a suggestion in this regard was made in a report tabled in Parliament recently. In such a situation, the Ministry of Defense and the mechanism will be set up to take the services of Agniveers in emergency situations. Because it is fully trained and young. The age of ex-servicemen has also increased. The committee says that a database of yogis and re-service aspirants will be prepared so that they can be called immediately if needed.
Batch to be completed by 2026-27
Let us tell you that the first batch of Agniveers is going to end in the 2023 working period 2026. Therefore, a decision should be taken soon in this regard. According to a source associated with the Ministry of Defense, a suggestion has been received in the report submitted on this, which is being considered and discussed.
