The issue of sand mining in Bihar has always been discussed. The cases of illegal sand mining (sand mining) have not been brought under control even after many attempts. The Bihar government is trying to stop such incidents. Bihar state government has made a decision in this regard. The government has announced to auction the sand ghats. The date of auction of sand ghats has also been fixed.

E-auction will be conducted for sand mining. A directive has been issued by the Mines and Geology Department to auction 200 sand ghats by January 15. The Mineral Development Officers of the districts have been directed by the Department of Mines and Geology to revise the district survey report and take approval from the CIAA for the Jean Sand Ghats which have not been auctioned so far. Thereafter, the tendering process will commence. The districts have also been warned of action against the concerned district officials if mining is not done from the auctioned ghats without any reason.
Mining started from only 75 ghats
The proposal to auction 267 sand ghats in 29 districts has been accepted. But till now mining has been started from only 75 ghats. Due to the large area of some ghats, the auction has not been held here and mining is being delayed.
