Chennai-based electric two-wheeler player Raptee has unveiled a new electric motorcycle at the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet (TNGIM-24), which it claims is the world’s first high-voltage electric bike.
This is a new company, but it has big plans. The company has set up a factory on 4 acres of land for its first project in Chennai with an initial investment of Rs 85 crore. In addition to the research and development center for vehicles, state-of-the-art technology is being used in this facility. The plant is expected to produce 1 lakh units annually. It also includes a dedicated battery pack assembly line.
How’s the new motorcycle?
Raptee has given its first electric motorcycle a transparent body, so that the mechanism inside the bike is very clear. Its look is different from other bikes, as well as it is strong.
It has a sporty look and design, along with a split seat. The electric motor and battery mechanism are placed at the bottom of the bike’s fuel tank (for show only), which is fully visible through the glass. The charging port is on top of the fuel tank.
Power and Performance
The company claims a top speed of 135 kmph and a claimed range of 150 km on a single charge. The electric motorcycle accelerates from 0-60 kmph in just 3.5 seconds It can be easily charged from any CCS2 charging station. It will give a range of 40 km in 15 minutes of charging and up to 80% charge in 45 minutes of charging.
Price and Launch
The company said that its ready model has been prepared by now and it was shown at the Tamil Nadu Summit. Along with this, this electric motorcycle can be launched in the month of April this year. But it would be wrong to say anything about the price of this bike before the launch. The company has been working on this bike since 2019.
